Computing Environment
The Strauss Health Sciences Library on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz) provides access to biomedical information resources in a complex networked environment. Every effort is made to maintain computing and networks systems at optimal levels. Please ask for assistance at the Service Desk if you need help getting started with your research, or if you are experiencing equipment problems.
Policy
Library computers are a resource provided to support the education, research, and clinical decision-making needs of the faculty, staff, students and patients of CU Anschutz and its affiliated hospitals. All computer use must fall within scope of the CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus Administrative Policy: Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources.
Library computers and licensed online resources may not be used by anyone for commercial purposes or private financial gain as defined by the CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus Administrative Policy - Facilities Use by Employees and Students.
Open drink containers and/or food products accompanied by excessive waste are prohibited near library computers.
Viewing or distribution of pornography or sexually offensive material in the library is prohibited. Users viewing pornography on library workstations will be directed to log off the computer and leave the library for the rest of the day. Future offenses will be reported to authorities including University Police, University Administration or both.
Interfering with, or disrupting other computer users is prohibited both online and in the library. Malicious, threatening, harassing or obscene behavior or language is prohibited both online and in the library.
Attempting to gain or gaining unauthorized entry to other computer systems or devices (hacking) is prohibited.
Use of peer-to-peer software on library computers, including BitTorrent and similar P2P software, is prohibited. Use of such software on personal devices within the library, if using university network resources is also prohibited.
Users are cautioned to guard closely the security of personal information, credit card numbers, computer accounts, passwords, and other types of authorizations when using the Internet. Additionally, if and when library computer security settings allow, any electronic files saved locally to library workstations should not be considered confidential.
If minors are present, parents are cautioned to closely monitor their use of the Internet.
Failure to comply with this policy may result in the loss of the right to use the computers in the library.
