The University of Colorado School of Medicine
Founded in 1883, the University of Colorado School of Medicine was originally a free institution. Because anyone had access to a medical education, lecture tickets were not necessary. This may be the reason why the Health Sciences Library does not have examples of medical lecture tickets in its collection.
In addition, the University of Colorado allowed women to attend medical school, which was not the norm throughout the country. In fact, the Journal of the American Medical Association had harsh words for the newly established program. The journals opinion appeared in the Volume I from 1883, on page 183.
