First Floor Map Details

Entrance

The entrance to the Strauss Library is located on the west side of the building across from the Skaggs School of Pharmacy.

Elevators

  • North Elevator - The elevator goes to the 2nd and 3rd floors. Located in the northeast section of the Strauss Library, 1st Floor.
  • South Elevator - The elevator goes to the 2nd and 3rd floors. Located in the southeast section of the Strauss Library, 1st Floor.

Stairs

  • Main staircase - Located in the center of the library to the left after you walk through the front double-doors of the Strauss Library, 1st Floor.
  • Spiral stairs - Located in the southeast section of the Strauss Library, 1st Floor.

Emergency Exits

There are four Emergency Exits on the first floor of the Strauss Library. Two in the southeast corner and two in the northeast corner. There will be one flight of stairs leading to the northeast exits and two flights of stairs leading to the southeast exits.

Restrooms

Men and women’s restrooms are located in the northeast and southeast sections of the Strauss Library, 1st Floor.

Service Desk

The service desk will be to your immediate right after crossing through the front double-doors of the Strauss Library, 1st floor.

Computers & Printers

  • The North & South Information Commons has over 30 computer workstations available with a variety of Macs and PCs, including laptop docking stations.
  • There are two self-serve printers on the first floor. Printer one is located in behind the spiral staircase in the south section of the Strauss Library, 1st floor. Printer two is located in the northeast section of the Strauss Library, 1st floor. Click here for more information on the technology and printing options available in the library.

Study Rooms

There are study rooms available for single or group study. The rooms must be reserved before using. There are study rooms located in the northeast and southeast sections of the Strauss Library, 1st Floor. Click here for more information on Study Rooms.

Teaching Labs 1 & 2 

Teaching rooms are equipped with laptops, a podium, and a projector. In-person library classes are held in the Teaching Labs. You can also reserve one or both classrooms. Located in the north section of the Strauss Library, 1st Floor. Click here for more information on reserving these classrooms.

Partners in the Library

Office of Disability, Access & Inclusion (ODAI) - Partnering with students and programs to identify opportunities to create and promote meaningful access. Located in the north section of the Strauss Library, 1st Floor. Click here to access the ODAI website.

Amesse Collection

The Amesse Collection is the leisure reading collection of fiction & non-fiction books, magazines, and more. Located in the east section of the Strauss Library, 1st floor.

Amenities on the First Floor

  • Bike Workstation - A stationary bike with a desktop to work on. Located in the northeast section of the Strauss Library, 1st floor.
  • Coffee - A vending machine where you can purchase coffee is located in the southeast section of the Strauss Library, 1st floor.
  • Treadmill Workstation - A walking treadmill station with a desktop to work on. One workstation is located in the northeast section of the Strauss Library, 1st floor, and another is located in the northwest section of the Strauss Library, 1st floor.
  • Vending machines are available to purchase snacks and drinks. Located in the north section of the Strauss Library, 1st floor.
  • The Lounge provides a space for students, faculty, and staff to study, lounge, or grab coffee and a snack. There is ping pong and foozball to unwind, along with a kitchen that includes a fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee machine, and a variety of vending machines with snacks and drinks. The library also provides a private lactation space in the lounge, available for those who may need it. Located to the right of the front entrance to the library. Badge-access only for CU Anschutz affiliates.
