Join us for the next Strauss Wisneski Virtual Lecture on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 12:00p-1:00p MST. Kelsey Schwander, Pharm D, CBIS will present Cannabis Conversations: Educating Patients and Providers in Practice. All are welcome and registration is not required.

Join us for an engaging lecture designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and confidence to discuss cannabis with patients and colleagues. The lecture will begin with an overview of cannabis history and its evolving legal landscape, highlighting key regulatory updates. A brief background on pharmacology will help set the stage for everyone to understand it. The focus will then shift to practical strategies for integrating cannabis consultations into healthcare settings, emphasizing effective communication techniques to educate both patients and providers. By addressing common misconceptions, navigating legal and ethical considerations, and providing real-world examples, this session aims to bridge the gap between science and practice, ensuring clinicians are prepared to engage in informed, patient-centered conversations about cannabis.

Kelsey Schwander is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, specializing in mild traumatic brain injury, community-based pharmacy, and cannabis. She serves as the clinical pharmacist at the Marcus Institute for Brain Health, directs three PGY1 Community-Based Practice Residency Programs, and teaches in both the Doctor of Pharmacy and Cannabis Science Master’s programs. She owns BHealth Consulting, is co-authoring a cannabis handbook for APhA, and is an expert on pharmacy innovation and patient care.
