Looking north of Fitzsimons Army Medical Center before the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center moved from the 9th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard campus to Aurora, Colorado. Building 500 was constructed from Colorado Yule marble and Texas sandstone and was a landmark in Colorado as the largest structure in 1941. Colfax Avenue borders Fitzsimons on the south. Stapleton International Airport with runways is seen in the north and west. The airport closed in 1995.
