Strauss Library Wishes was open from September 22 through October 10, 2025. Thank you to those that participated!
Below are wishes that faculty, staff, and students at Anschutz Campus have submitted to the library in previous years.
We have included wishes that were granted and wishes that were not granted.
Thank you for helping make the library everything you want it to be!
Cafe
An inexpensive restaurant/coffee shop/cafe in the library would be great
We love coffee too — trust us, the Genie’s mug is never empty!
A café in the library has been tried before but couldn’t brew enough business to stay open. Campus food services run all dining spots and require them to be self-sustaining. Our current space (area room 1100 outside our front entrance) is a lounge with a Keurig, microwave, fridge, and vending machines along with the always popular and more recently added ping pong table. We cannot grant this wish at this time and the future always brings possibilities. Thank you.
Relaxation
It’d be cool if we could check out passes to use at the wellness center
We would love to help more people have access to great exercise and wellness resources. We will look into this. Thank you for submitting your wish.
Facility
I would like for more physical therapy rooms or at least physical therapy tables in the library for use.
As you may have noticed, Room 1204 has been converted into a Physical Therapy Room, now equipped with PT posters and a physical therapy table. To enhance privacy, we’re also in the process of adding frosted window film to the room.
The Physical Therapy Room is available to reserve for up to 2 hours. To book the space, visit the library webpage, select the “Reserve a Room” tab, and choose “Physical Therapy Room” from the category options.
In addition to this new space, we’ll also be purchasing an additional PT table for checkout, as requested during the Wishes Campaign.
Thank you for your suggestion and for helping us improve our services!
Furniture
Reclining study chairs! I want to kick my feet up while studying.
We love helping our library users find comfortable and relaxing ways to study through a variety of seating options! We’ll look into your suggestion and consider the pros and cons of recliners, including appropriate locations for this type of seating. Thanks for sharing your idea!
Relaxation
Disc golf baskets
We love helping our community find ways to exercise and have fun! We will look into your wish.
Services
I’d love to see a men’s group/men’s mental health and well-being effort on campus. There are/have been many women’s professional development and leadership efforts, I haven’t seen anything for men and I feel like it would be very beneficial.
Thank you for your wish. Good mental health is essential for all of us! While this is beyond the scope of services the library can provide, we will refer you to the following contacts:
Facility
Water bottle fillers like in Ed 1 and Ed 2! The fountains are very hard to fill a bottle with.
Thanks so much for submitting your wish — we love hearing your ideas to make Strauss Library even better!
Great news: this wish is already granted! Strauss Library has three water bottle filling stations, one on each floor of the building. You’ll find them on the south end, just outside and between the sets of restrooms. That’s the same end of the building as our main entrance and service desk. These stations were installed as part of a campus-wide initiative a years ago, and while adding more would be a bit cost-prohibitive, we hope you enjoy the ones we do have. Think of it as a mini hydration adventure — a chance to stretch your legs and explore each floor! Thanks again for your thoughtful suggestion.
Services
I wish there is Halal meat for Muslim students in the Food Pantry.
*Day Care facilities for the new moms.
Thank you for submitting your wish. The food pantry is run by Students Affairs, so we will happily forward your suggestion to provide Halal meat. You can also add your suggestions to their wishlist.
It would be amazing if the library could help families with convenient day care resources. Sadly, this is beyond the scope of what we are able to provide our CU community. Office of Student Support is available for assistance in Education II North, at StudentAffairs@cuanschutz.edu or at 303-724-2866.
Study Rooms
To have monitors or TVs placed in each bookable study room with cables to connect, or AirPlay to screen directly. Especially useful for group study, as a computer or laptop can be directly connected to the screen, allowing for presentations, schemas, or even group practice questions instead of having to write them all out.
Thanks for the great suggestion! We agree—having a screen to share content can really boost group study sessions. Right now, eight of our bookable rooms on the first floor have TVs, and there are also event rooms on the second and third floors (marked with EMS signs and daily schedules) that are open for walk-in use when not in use.
While equipping every room with a TV is cost prohibitive, we can explore ways to make more screen-equipped rooms bookable.
Your input helps us stay sharp—thank you for keeping us on our toes!
