Strauss Library Wishes was open from October 7th to October 25th, 2024.
Below are wishes that faculty, staff, and students at Anschutz Campus have submitted to the library in previous years.
We have included wishes that were granted and wishes that were not granted.
Thank you for helping make the library everything you want it to be!
Med student curriculum of textbooks since they are not a part of the modern-day medical school curriculums.
The Library’s collection policy does not stipulate that we will supply textbooks for all classes across the curriculum; this would be cost-prohibitive and not possible. However, the Library does hold in its collections a number of eBooks that happen to be textbooks in multiple programs of study at Anschutz. If you would like to learn more about discovering and using the Library's eBooks in your studies, please contact AskUs.
For more napping places!
This is something that the library could consider in the future. There are various challenges to planning additional nap pods and appropriate sleeping spaces. Some data we have from samples over several years do not seem to indicate that both nap pods inside the study zone are in use at the same time very often.
USMLE RX or Boards and Beyond subscriptions
Thank you for submitting a library wish request for USMLE RX and Boards and Beyond. We will get more information about those two resources, and look into subscription options if our collection budget allows.

Bring back the Open Access Fund for publication costs.
Thanks for asking about funds to support Open Access Article Processing Charges (APCs). At this time the library has no plans to provide OA funds for faculty and staff; however, the library has been having conversations with the Office of Research about support for OA on the campus. The library has an existing agreement with one publisher that allows Anschutz faculty to publish OA without APCs and a discount on APCs with another publisher. Reach out to AskUs if you’d like more information about those two options.
I wish I had unlimited access to librarian services for review search strategies so CU can get more publications to its name
We share that same goal of elevating the research profile of the Anschutz Medical Campus. Faculty can use our Professional Literature Searching Service for Tier 1, fully-supported (i.e., systematic review) search projects or literature search building (Tier 2). While there is often a wait time for the literature searching service, we are excited to share that we have added a new member to the Education & Research team, which will allow us to serve more researchers and their projects in the future.
While paid literature searching is not available for student curriculum projects (MSAs, capstones, theses, etc), students are able to schedule 1-1 consultations for literature search assistance. Please use AskUs to request help with literature searching.
I wish that there was a map of all the study rooms when you are making a booking on the LibCal website. It would make it easier to figure out where the rooms that you like and want to book are.
We cannot provide this map option at this time but do receive this comment from student users sometimes. We will look into a mapping add-on tool the vendor provides and consider other internal, homegrown methods to try and do this. Thank you.
Please continue providing AMBOSS subscriptions!! It was invaluable to my studying last year, and I anticipate using it extensively this year. Plus, having to take the step exams back to back means we would otherwise have to pay for multiple subscriptions.
Thank you for submitting a library wish request for AMBOSS. We received multiple wishes for renewing our one-year trial subscription and/or expanding our subscription to include more medical students. We understand that many students find it very useful for study and exam preparation. It is an expensive resource and the library needs to investigate funding options. We may also look into some other exam prep tools suggested by students if our budget allows.
You may already know about this, but the library does subscribe to BoardVitals. It has question banks for USMLE 1-3, and shelf exams for the following areas:
NBDE I, NBDE II, NAPLEX, NCLEX RN, PANCE; Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Surgery.

Free UWorld, Free Amboss
Thank you for submitting a library wish request for AMBOSS and UWorld. We received multiple requests for AMBOSS and understand its importance for your study. We will investigate funding options. We will get more information about UWorld and look into subscription options if our collection budget allows.
Subscription to UWorld!
Thank you for submitting a library wish request for UWorld. We will get more information about UWorld and look into subscription options if our collection budget allows.
